Colder Conditions Grip Kathmandu, Minimum Temperature Hits 3.5°C

The Kathmandu Valley experienced a significant drop in minimum temperature today, reaching 3.5 degrees Celsius, compared to yesterday’s 4.5 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Meteorologist Govind Jha reported that the minimum temperature hit 3.7 degrees Celsius at 6:30 AM, further decreasing to 3.5 degrees Celsius by 8:45 AM, marking the lowest temperature this season.

The chilling weather is attributed to the partial effect of westerly winds in Nepal, resulting in light snowfall in highland and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. Additionally, the Terai region is experiencing heavy fog.

While the influence of the westerly winds is helping clear the fog, meteorologists emphasize that there is no immediate prospect of rain in Nepal for the next week. Meteorologist Binod Pokharel shared on the social network X, “The influence of the westerly wind has changed and helped to remove the fog, but there is no chance of rain in Nepal for the next week.”

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions as the colder conditions persist, and visibility may be affected in certain regions due to fog. The Meteorological Forecasting Division will continue to monitor and update weather conditions as they develop.
