Dinesh Sunar Enters Guinness Book of World Records for 20th Time

National and international Parkour and gymnastics athlete Dinesh Sunar has achieved his 20th Guinness World Record, solidifying his position as a trailblazer in his field.

Sunar’s latest accomplishment, titled “The Most Blindfolded Backyard Somersaults in 30 Seconds,” involved performing 14 consecutive blindfolded backflips without using his hands. The achievement exceeded the minimum requirement of 10 somersaults for the record.

This remarkable feat was performed on December 7, 2024, during the Akron International Dance Festival in Akron, Ohio, USA. The event drew over 300 spectators from diverse nationalities and featured cultural performances representing countries such as Mexico, Germany, India, Nepal, and others.

The Guinness World Records headquarters officially recognized the achievement on December 20, 2025.

Judges for the event included Christine Wiedie Higham, Jeff Wilhite, martial arts instructors Hark Tirwa and Kaushila Khanal, as well as martial arts player Nilam Khanal and Akron City councilman Phil Lombardo.

Reflecting on his accomplishment, Sunar expressed his joy and determination: “It’s been 12 years of persistent effort to achieve this milestone. I hope to inspire the next generation to excel in Parkour and elevate Nepal’s reputation in the global sports arena.”

Sunar’s dedication to his craft and his record-breaking pursuits continue to bring international recognition to Nepal, inspiring athletes worldwide.
