
Fire Incidents Claim 22 Lives in One Month Across Nepal


A total of 478 fire incidents were recorded across Nepal between January 14 and February 12, resulting in the deaths of 22 people, according to Nepal Police.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and spokesperson for Nepal Police, Dinesh Kumar Acharya, reported that among the deceased, 11 were men, 10 were women, and one was a child. Additionally, 87 individuals sustained injuries, including 26 men, 54 women, four boys, and three girls.
A total of 3,503 security personnel were deployed to contain the fires. Koshi Province reported the highest number of incidents, with 129 cases. Other provinces recorded the following fire incidents: Madhes (89), Bagmati (42), Kathmandu Valley (37), Gandaki (39), Lumbini (63), Karnali (32), and Sudurpaschim (47).
During this period, 68 houses and 66 huts were destroyed by fire. The Nepal Police Headquarters estimated the total property damage at Rs 184.8 million.
