A tragic incident in Rolpa district claimed the lives of five workers when a wall supporting an under-construction suspension bridge collapsed today.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kuber Kathayat, the victims were identified as Dujaman Pariyar (45), Om Pariyar (31), Subitra Pariyar (40), Aaiti Pariyar (27), and Debiram Pariyar (66). The incident occurred in Sunchhahari Rural Municipality-3, where the workers were buried under the rubble while engaged in the construction work.
The suspension bridge, intended to connect Maulabang and Bahirigam, was under development when the wall gave way. Two other workers narrowly escaped the disaster, police reported.
Authorities have begun an investigation into the cause of the collapse, while the tragic incident underscores the need for enhanced safety measures at construction sites.
