Foreign Minister Saud leaves for UK to represent Nepal in British king’s coronation

Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud has left for the United Kingdom today to attend the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

President Ramchandra Poudel had been slated to attend the coronation ceremony, but due to health reasons, he was unable to attend. As a result, the government sent Foreign Minister Saud to UK in his place.

The coronation is scheduled to take place on May 6. During his stay in London, Minister Saud will attend the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey and the reception to be hosted at Buckingham Palace, the ministry informed today.

He will have other official engagements as well. The Foreign Minister will return to Kathmandu on May 9.

The coronation ceremony will be held in London’s Westminster Cathedral on May 6 (Baishakh 23).

Coronation ceremonies have been taking place in Westminster Abbey since 1066.

Camilla, who received the title of ‘Queen Consort’ at the coronation ceremony of King Charles, who assumed the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September, will also wear the crown of Queen Mary. The then foreign minister Narayan Khadka was sent from Nepal to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
