Four Arrested for Betting During Nepal Premier League Cricket Match
Nepal Police have arrested four individuals from Bihar, India, for allegedly engaging in betting activities during the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket championship at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati, confirmed the arrests. The suspects have been identified as Suman Bhoj (24), Amit Yadav (25), Suman Kumar (24), and Brajesh Kumar (25).
Bhoj and Yadav were detained on Monday, while Kumar and Brajesh were apprehended on Tuesday. The suspects have been presented in court, where authorities are seeking permission to conduct further investigations under Nepal’s Penal Code.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address illegal betting activities in sports events, which are considered a threat to the integrity of the games.
