Good Governance a Top Priority for the Government: Minister Lekhak
Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has emphasized that ensuring good governance and preventing corruption remain top priorities for the current government.
Addressing queries during discussions on the Bill to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, at the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee meeting of the House of Representatives today, Minister Lekhak reaffirmed the government’s commitment to “zero tolerance against corruption.”
He stated, “A government formed through the periodic election of political parties is best equipped to combat corruption. The public must trust the government but should also raise concerns if any weaknesses are observed.”
Minister Lekhak highlighted the need for unrestricted investigations into corruption cases, ensuring that individuals involved face appropriate action.
Referring to the Shera Durbar land scam in Nuwakot, the Minister assured the committee that the government is actively investigating the matter. He pledged that legal action would be taken against those found guilty and committed to recovering misused government and public properties.
“The government will not remain silent on corruption or the misuse of public resources. These assets will be reclaimed at any cost,” he added.
The government’s proactive stance on corruption reflects its dedication to fostering accountability and maintaining public trust.
