Govt forms committee to probe Manang Air crash

The government has formed a committee to investigate the Manang Air helicopter crash that took place in Solukhumbu on Tuesday morning, in which six people including the pilot died.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Office at Singha Durbar on Tuesday afternoon formed an probe committee under the leadership of Budhisagar Lamichhane, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism.

Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology and Spokesperson of the Government of Nepal informed that the meeting expressed grief over the incident and paid tribute to the deceased.

Six people including Captain Chet Bahadur Gurung and five Mexican nationals died on the spot after a helicopter of Manang Air crashed at Lamjura of Likhupike Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district.

The chopper had gone out of contact on Tuesday morning and was later found crashed at Chihandanda of Lamjura which lies between Jiri and Phaplu.
