Govt to Grant Former King Shah Equal Privileges as Former Presidents

The  government is reportedly considering providing former King Gyanendra Shah with the privileges and facilities accorded to former presidents, according to insider sources.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is said to have consulted with top leaders of the ruling party during a meeting held on Tuesday.

Sources within the government revealed that an official decision is in the works to honor the former head of state and extend the facilities traditionally granted to former presidents. This move follows concerns raised by members of the cabinet regarding the former king’s increased political activities across the country.

Allegedly, individuals associated with anti-religious harmony activities have been attempting to incite the former king, prompting the government to take action.

One member of the cabinet, speaking anonymously, stated that the decision to extend presidential privileges to the former king is a strategic move to curb his political engagements.

Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the necessity of an official decision regarding the facilities for the former king.
