Home Minister Stresses Nationwide Anti-Drugs Campaign

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has underscored the need to expand the anti-drugs campaign nationwide to create a drug-free society.

Speaking at the inauguration of the anti-drug campaign organized by the Valley Police Office in Kathmandu today, Minister Lekhak highlighted that drug abuse is posing a serious threat to individuals, families, and society as a whole. He emphasized that addressing this issue is not solely the responsibility of the government and police, but a collective concern for the entire society.

He called for the active involvement of all three tiers of government in the campaign to curb drug abuse, pointing out that drugs are a root cause of various crimes in society.

“Different types of crimes are on the rise, with drugs being the source of many of them. The campaign should be extended to schools to protect the younger generation from falling into addiction,” said Minister Lekhak.

He directed the police to implement the anti-drug campaign across the nation, stressing that a concerted effort from all levels of government and society is crucial to achieve the goal of a drug-free society.

“Drugs and alcohol are major contributors to rising crimes, chaos, and disorder in society. Controlling drugs is essential to curb many other crimes,” he added.
