IGP Kunwar and UN Peace Ops Under-Secretary-General Lacroix meet

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar and Jean-Pierre Lacroix, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations have held a meeting today.

In the meeting held at Police Headquarters at Naxal in Kathmandu, visiting Under-Secretary-General Lacroix commended the contribution of Nepal Police who have been deployed in various countries at the request of the United Nations for peacekeeping operation.

It may be noted that Nepal had been the second highest troops-contributing country (TCC) in the UN Peacekeeping mission covering seven missions, Lacroix has said in his twitter handle.

IGP Kunwar also discussed the contribution made by the Nepal Police to maintain peace by protecting and promoting human rights and by remaining committed towards the UN charter.

During the meeting, the two also deliberated on increasing the number of Nepal Police personnel in various peacekeeping operations and matters of mutual interests between the Nepal Police and the UN, according to the Nepal Police.

Present on the occasion were Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Tek Bahadur Tamang and spokesperson of the Nepal Police and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kuber Kadayat among others.
