Jajarkot Quake Relief: PMDRF Exceeds 150 Million Rupees

In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Ramidanda in Jajarkot on the night of November 3, the government of Nepal has received an outpouring of support, with over 150 million rupees donated for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. The funds, totaling Rs. 152.8 million as of November 17, have been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (PMDRF).

The earthquake caused significant property damage in Jajarkot and Rukumpaschim, prompting various individuals and organizations to pledge their support for those affected. The government, in coordination with the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, requested that contributions be directed to the PMDRF to streamline the relief efforts.

Among the notable contributors are Min Bahadur Gurung, who donated Rs. 11.1 million, and corporate entities such as Buddha Air, National Commercial Bank, Global IME Bank, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, Gorkha Brewery, and CAN Central Payment, each contributing Rs. 10 million. The collective effort of these donations reflects a united front in addressing the urgent needs of the affected communities.

Furthermore, political parties, Nepali Congress, and CPN-Maoist Center, joined hands with the Agricultural Development Bank, contributing Rs. 5 million each towards the relief fund. This collaborative approach underscores the solidarity and determination to aid those affected by the earthquake.

The government expressed its gratitude for the generous contributions and assured the public that the funds would be utilized efficiently to provide immediate relief and support for the rehabilitation of the affected areas. The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund continues to accept donations, emphasizing the ongoing need for assistance in the aftermath of this natural disaster.
