Janakpur Bolts Clinch Third Straight Victory in Nepal Premier League
Janakpur Bolts continued their winning streak in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament, securing a seven-wicket victory over Pokhara Avengers in today’s match at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
Chasing a target of 139 runs set by the Avengers, Janakpur Bolts reached 140/3 in just 17.1 overs. Lahiru Milantha led the charge with a solid 45 runs, supported by James Neesham (40), Aasif Sheikh (32), Harsha Thakur (13), and Anil Shah (1). The Avengers’ bowling lineup saw Captain Kushal Bhurtel, Michael Leask, and Bipin Khatri each take a wicket but failed to defend their total.
After losing the toss, Pokhara Avengers were sent to bat first and managed 138/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Marcus Critchley top-scored with 35 runs, while Michael Leask (25), Andris Gous (20), Raymon Reifer (17), and Dilip Nath (11) added crucial contributions. Captain Kushal Bhurtel (6) and others struggled to build partnerships, leading to a modest total.
Janakpur Bolts’ bowling unit, led by Lalit Rajbanshi, proved effective. Rajbanshi claimed three wickets, while James Neesham bagged two. Mohammad Mohsin and Kishore Mahato chipped in with one wicket each, keeping the Avengers’ batsmen in check.
Janakpur Bolts’ response was clinical, with a steady flow of runs anchored by Milantha and Neesham. The team’s cohesive batting effort sealed their third consecutive win in the tournament, solidifying their position as strong contenders in the league.
