Janakpur Bolts Triumph Over Biratnagar Kings in Nepal Premier League Opener
Janakpur Bolts clinched a convincing eight-wicket victory against Biratnagar Kings in the opening match of the Nepal Premier League, held at Kirtipur’s TU Cricket Ground.
Biratnagar Kings, batting first after losing the toss, were bowled out for 127 runs in 19 overs. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill led the scoring with 55 runs off 43 balls, supported by Aqib Ilyas (15) and Nicholas Kirton (9). The team struggled as Janakpur’s bowlers dominated, with Lalit Rajbanshi taking three wickets, while Kishore Mahato and Harsh Thaker secured two wickets each. Muhammad Mohsin and Ben Mike also contributed with one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 128, Janakpur Bolts reached their goal in just 15.3 overs, losing only two wickets. Lahiru Milantha shone with an impressive 75 runs off 53 balls, supported by Harsh Thaker’s unbeaten 29. Captain Anil Kumar Sah added 5 runs, while Aasif Sheikh went out for a duck.
Biratnagar’s bowling effort saw Chris Sole and Pratish GC claiming one wicket each, but the team conceded 22 extras, giving Janakpur a further edge.
With this dominant performance, Janakpur Bolts started their campaign on a high note, setting a strong precedent for the tournament ahead.
