Kathmandu Valley Records Bone-Chilling 2.5 Degrees Celsius

A bone-chilling cold has swept across the country, leaving residents shivering despite the absence of winter rainfall. The Kathmandu Valley, in particular, has witnessed a significant drop in temperatures, reaching a record low for the year.

According to the latest report from the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley plummeted to 2.5 degrees Celsius. Senior Meteorologist Min Kumar Aryal revealed that the temperature was initially recorded at 2.9 degrees Celsius around 5:00 am this morning and further decreased to 2.5 degrees Celsius by 8:45 am.

This notable dip comes after the minimum temperature stood at 3 degrees Celsius just two days ago. The cold wave has extended beyond the capital, with Jumla registering a chilling minus 5.3 degrees Celsius and Jomsom in Mustang reporting a bone-chilling minus 5.5 degrees Celsius, as confirmed by Aryal.

While the hilly areas of Gandaki, Koshi, and Bagmati Provinces are experiencing partly cloudy weather, the Tarai region is shrouded in thick fog, according to the senior meteorologist. As citizens bundle up to combat the unusual cold, meteorological experts are closely monitoring the situation to provide timely updates and ensure public safety.
