Maoist Chair Dahal Urges Government to Address Public Grievances

CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called on the government to prioritize resolving the pressing issues faced by the people. Speaking in the House of Representatives today, he highlighted the plight of loan shark victims and the unresolved concerns of Guthi victims, stressing the urgent need for justice.
Dahal underscored the significance of Nepal’s peace process, describing it as a crucial milestone in the country’s transition to republicanism. He warned against mistaking the goodwill shown during the movement to end the monarchy as a sign of weakness. “No one has the privilege to challenge the system that was established through the sacrifices of the people,” he asserted, rejecting any notion of equating democracy with monarchy.
He cautioned that if unconstitutional or undemocratic measures are pursued, a new movement may take shape in response. Addressing pro-monarchist forces, he urged them to find their place within a democratic framework, emphasizing that monarchy is no longer a viable alternative. “We have no objection to monarchists participating in democracy, but the republic is here to stay,” he stated.
Dahal, who also leads the main opposition in parliament, criticized power-sharing parties for their failure to uphold good governance, warning that such shortcomings pose a serious threat to democracy.
