NC Lawmaker Accuses Tourism Ministry of Commission Games in Aircraft Procurement

Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada has raised concerns about the Ministry of Tourism’s procurement process for new aircraft, alleging it has initiated a game of commission. Addressing the House of Representatives, Khatiwada criticized Tourism Minister Sudan Kirati for prioritizing publicity over substantial efforts.

Khatiwada accused the Minister of steering Nepal Airlines towards new aircraft purchases for commission gains, highlighting worries about the national carrier’s declining strength. He raised alarms over the procurement of outdated technology aircraft and the premature initiation of the process before the completion of evaluations.

MP Khatiwada underscored Nepal Airlines’ financial struggles, particularly its failure to meet interest payments on previously acquired aircraft. He criticized Minister Kirati for focusing on public relations rather than implementing necessary reforms, mocking his symbolic gestures of fighting corruption.

Furthermore, Khatiwada alleged connections between the Minister and controversial appointments in Lumbini’s historic area, suggesting involvement in the commission game. He also condemned the hiring practices at airports, emphasizing the disillusionment of citizens over alleged government corruption.
