Nepal Powers into Final of SMS Friendship Cup T20 Tri-Series with Third Consecutive Victory

Nepal’s national cricket team has etched their name into the final of the SMS Friendship Cup T20 Tri-Series in India with an enthralling eight-run triumph over Gujarat Cricket Association. This victory marks their third consecutive win in the series, solidifying their position for a shot at the championship title.

In a high-stakes encounter at the Sai Meghpan Sporrtslife Ground, Nepal exhibited their batting prowess by posting a challenging total of 181/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The opening pair set the stage ablaze with a commanding partnership of 125 runs, laying a strong foundation for the team. Despite a stumble in the middle overs, Aasif Sheikh’s explosive innings of 85 off 51 deliveries propelled Nepal to a formidable total.

However, Gujarat Cricket Association fought valiantly in their chase, mustering 171/7 but fell short of the target by eight runs. Skipper Umang Kumar spearheaded the chase with a resilient knock of 47 runs. Despite a spirited effort from Gujarat’s batting lineup, Nepal’s bowlers held their nerve to secure the crucial victory.

Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, and Kushal Malla shone with the ball for Nepal, each claiming two wickets to stifle Gujarat’s pursuit. Their disciplined bowling effort, coupled with key breakthroughs at crucial junctures, proved instrumental in Nepal’s triumph.

With their place secured in the final, Nepal will now face Baroda on April 5 before locking horns in the title clash on April 7.
