
Newly Appointed IGP Deepak Thapa Assumes Office


Deepak Thapa officially assumed office as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) this afternoon, vowing to prioritize law and order in the country.
Thapa’s promotion was approved during a Cabinet meeting on Monday, and Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi presented him with the rank insignia earlier today. During the handover ceremony, Duwadi congratulated Thapa and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.
The event was attended by Inspector General of the Armed Police Force Nepal Raju Aryal, Chief Investigation Director of the National Investigation Department Hut Raj Thapa, senior officials from the Home Ministry, Additional Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General, and media representatives.
After assuming office, IGP Thapa reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening law enforcement and advancing Nepal Police, expressing confidence in receiving collective support to achieve these goals.
Prior to taking charge, Thapa paid tribute at the Police Martyrs Memorial at Nepal Police Headquarters and planted a Neem sapling on the premises as a symbolic gesture.
