NPC should come up with employment generation schemes, says PM
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has instructed the National Planning Commission to come up new schemes that increase production and generate employment in the country.
In a meeting with newly appointed members of the NPC who called the Prime Minister at his office in Singha Durbar today, he emphasized that as low production and employment is the major problem of the country it should be addressed in a planned manner. “I am confident that the Commission will increase effectiveness of its role as a think tank of the government,” said Prime Minister Dahal.
On that occasion, he instructed the NPC office-bearers to focus on evidence-based policy making by strengthening the statistical system.
Stating he believed that the new office-bearers would help create momentum in the implementation of plans, study-research and development-construction projects, the Prime Minister instructed the NPC to proceed with the process of finalizing the 16th plan and help incorporate strategies and programs proposed in the plan in the next financial year budget.
NPC Vice Chair Dr Meen Bahadur Shrestha and newly appointed members of the Commission were present during the meeting.
