Oli Commends Celebration of Unity Day on Prithvi Jayanti

Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman K P Oli praised the National Unity Day event organized by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on the 302nd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, lauding the party’s efforts to celebrate Prithvi Jayanti as a day of national unity.

In an address at the event held in Kathmandu on Friday, Oli expressed his appreciation for the RPP’s initiative, stating, “It is good that the RPP has organized a program on Prithvi Jayanti as National Unity Day. I extend my gratitude to them for this commendable effort.”

Oli highlighted the significance of Prithvi Narayan Shah’s leadership in the geographical unification of Nepal, underlining the historical importance of the occasion. He acknowledged the role played by Prithvi Narayan Shah, often referred to as the ‘nation-builder,’ in bringing about unity among diverse regions.

The program, attended by prominent leaders including Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, also saw the presence of Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.

The RPP’s tea reception program provided a platform for leaders from various political backgrounds to come together and commemorate Prithvi Jayanti as a day symbolizing national unity. The event aimed to foster a sense of unity and collaboration among different political parties in Nepal, emphasizing the importance of historical figures like Prithvi Narayan Shah in the country’s development.
