Parliament Session Briefly Adjourned Due to Absence of Ministers

The House of Representatives meeting was adjourned for 15 minutes on Wednesday after no government ministers were present. Originally scheduled for 11 a.m., the session began at 11:30 a.m., only to be halted following objections from the opposition.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire decided to suspend proceedings after opposition lawmakers insisted that the session could not continue without government representatives. Maoist Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey raised concerns, stating, “The government is disregarding parliamentary norms and failing to follow the rules. There is no government representative present, which is a clear violation of protocol.”

As per Sub-rule 5 of Rule 6 of the House of Representatives Rules, at least one government representative must be present during parliamentary proceedings. However, with no ministers in attendance, the session was forced to pause.

Wednesday’s agenda included the presentation of a bill to replace an ordinance, but the delay disrupted scheduled discussions.
