PM Prachanda Reaches Rome

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” has reached in Rome, Italy, at 7:30 local time, heading the Nepalese delegation to participate in the United Nations Food Systems-2023 Stocktaking Moment. The event is set to take place at the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Prachanda was warmly received by Bharat Kumar Regmi, the Ambassador of Nepal to Austria in Rome, as well as Honorary Consulate Poulo Nugari and officials from the Italian Foreign Ministry.

Notably, Prime Minister Prachanda holds the prestigious position of the President of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), a role that will see him deliver a significant speech during the opening ceremony of the program. Recently, Nepal assumed the presidency of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries for a term of five years, signifying the country’s enhanced international standing and engagement in global affairs.

The United Nations Food Systems-2023 Stocktaking Moment is a crucial gathering that aims to assess progress and address challenges in achieving sustainable food systems.

Accompanying Prime Minister Prachanda on this crucial international event is his daughter, Ganga Dahal. The delegation representing Nepal also includes Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Beduram Bhusal, and Member of National Planning Commission, Dr Jay Kant Raut, among other senior government officials.

During the course of the event, the Prime Minister will take the opportunity to engage in bilateral meetings with esteemed dignitaries from the United Nations (UN) system. These high-level dignitaries include the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), and the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), among others.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will also have an interactive session with the Nepali Diaspora in Italy.

Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on July 28.
