Positive Response to Government Ordinances, Says Prime Minister Oli

Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman, KP Sharma Oli, has stated that the government has received positive responses to the recently-issued ordinances aimed at fostering a conducive environment for retaining youth, improving public service delivery, and enhancing the business climate in Nepal.

Addressing the parliamentary party meeting of the CPN (UML) today, PM Oli highlighted that the ordinances were introduced with the intention of addressing key national priorities. He emphasized that 29 laws have been amended through these ordinances and assured that replacement bills would be presented in the upcoming winter session of the Federal Parliament, which begins on January 31.

The UML convened this meeting ahead of the parliamentary session, during which PM Oli urged party lawmakers to approach their work with fact-based reasoning and responsibility. He called for restraint and effective participation from the MPs, stressing that if opposition accusations were raised, they should be countered constructively.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to national unity, sovereignty, and independence, and underscored the need for good governance, policy clarity, and pragmatic decision-making. He also highlighted Nepal’s balanced foreign policy, stressing the importance of maintaining strong relations with neighboring countries on the basis of mutual benefits.

PM Oli responded to claims that the government has made no progress, pointing out the ongoing efforts in education, healthcare, and agriculture. “We must work in a distinctive manner,” he stated, adding that the current coalition government will continue until the next general elections, dismissing speculation about its collapse.

The Prime Minister also rejected comparisons with countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, asserting that Nepal’s transformation can only come through democratic and constitutional processes.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung addressed the ordinance, discussing its provisions and the necessary legal amendments.
