PR results out, UML largest, Unified Socialist fails to become national party

The final results of proportional representation (PR) votes has been published by the Election Commission on Tuesday.

The final results of the PR vote count have been published on the website of the EC.

As per the final counting results of PR votes posted on the EC’s website, CPN-UML has become the largest party with 2,845,641 PR votes.

Nepali Congress has become the second-largest party with 2715225 PR votes.

Altogether seven parties – CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Janamat Party – has crossed the 3% threshold to become a national party.

CPN-Unified Socialist, spillitted from CPN-UML under the leadership of Madhav Kumar Nepal, has failed to get national party status by 18,411 votes. Unified Socialists received 298,391 PR votes. The party, however, has won 10 seats under FPTP voting.

Nepali Congress                   :  2715225 votes

CPN (Maoist Center)          :  1175684 votes

Rastriya Swatantra Party   :  1130344 votes

Rastriya Prajatantra Party :  588849 votes

Janata Samajbadi Party     :  421313 votes

Janamat Party                      :  394655 votes
