Prachanda Pledges to Enhance Effectiveness of Nepalgunj Integrated Check Point
Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has committed to taking initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the Nepalgunj Integrated Check Point (ICP). During his visit to Nepalgunj, where he addressed the Maoist Centre’s Lumbini province-level internal training, Dahal conducted an on-site inspection of the ICP on Friday morning.
“The structure here is impressive, and we all need to work together to make it truly effective,” Dahal stated, emphasizing the government’s policy to establish ICPs at all major border points across the country. He acknowledged that while the ICP was set up earlier, it may still face some operational challenges that need to be addressed.
The Nepalgunj ICP, a critical infrastructure project aimed at streamlining cross-border trade and movement, was jointly inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dahal during the latter’s official visit to New Delhi, India. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to bolster economic cooperation and ease of trade between Nepal and India.
Dahal’s remarks highlight the importance of ensuring that such infrastructure projects not only exist but also function efficiently to meet the intended goals of facilitating trade and enhancing border security. His commitment to improving the ICP’s effectiveness signals a continued focus on strengthening Nepal’s border infrastructure.
