Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Kicks Off Official Visit to China with Warm Reception and Bilateral Talks
Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, currently on an official visit to China, was welcomed with a grand ceremony at the Great Hall of the People today. Chinese Premier Li Qiang hosted the welcome event, which featured a ‘guard of honor’ by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and the participation of several senior Chinese leaders.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Oli introduced members of his delegation to his Chinese counterpart, who in turn presented key members of his team. The formalities marked the beginning of a day focused on deepening Nepal-China relations.
Following the ceremonial welcome, bilateral meetings commenced at the prime ministerial level. Discussions are expected to cover various aspects of Nepal-China cooperation, including economic development, infrastructure, and cultural exchanges.
A signing ceremony is scheduled to take place later today, solidifying agreements that aim to enhance ties between the two neighbors. Additionally, Prime Minister Oli will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping later in the day, underlining the significance of the visit in bolstering diplomatic relations.
Prime Minister Oli arrived in Beijing on December 2, leading a comprehensive delegation that includes First Lady Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal. Other members of the delegation include Economic and Development Advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, federal parliamentarians, senior government officials, private sector representatives, and media personnel.
The visit is seen as an opportunity to deepen Nepal-China relations, explore avenues for mutual growth, and strengthen Nepal’s position in regional diplomacy.
