Process of parliamentary hearing for proposed CJ begins

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has started the hearing process of senior-most Justice at the Supreme Court, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha. The Constitutional Council had recommended Shrestha for the post of Chief Justice.

Today’s meeting of the Committee decided to inform, through public media, for giving a notice or filing complaint within 10 days with clear basis and evidence in decent language if anyone feels that appointing Shrestha to the post was not appropriate.

The meeting held under chairmanship of senior-most member of the committee, Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana took the decision to publish the notice along with an arrangement where complainant can file complaints through letter or appearing at the Committee’s Secretariat.
The Committee would conduct hearing taking information with Shrestha if it receives complaints within the deadline.

Shrestha would present before the Committee an action plan, his experience, concept and thoughts he would be implementing if he is appointed to the post of CJ. President would appoint him to the post if the Parliamentary Hearing Committee approves his name.

Shrestha is working as acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court since few days.
