In the midst of a week-long Pran Pratishtha ceremony, a silver idol of Ram Lalla, adorned with roses and marigolds, graced the premises of the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in a ceremonial procession. The idol, however, is not the one slated for placement in the sanctum sanctorum on January 22.
The ceremonial palanquin, embellished with vibrant flowers, carried the silver idol around the temple grounds, accompanied by priests. A priest walked ahead of the procession with a “Kalash (pot)” balanced on his head, adding a traditional touch to the auspicious event.
Marking the second day of the week-long rituals, a “Kalash Pujan” took place today, performed by Anil Mishra, a member of the Sri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, along with his wife and others. The sacred ritual unfolded on the banks of the Saryu River, where pots filled with water from the river were transported to the temple complex for the ongoing pre-consecration ceremonies.
As part of the elaborate proceedings, the “Pran-Pratishtha” ceremony is scheduled to commence at 12:20 pm on January 22, reaching its conclusion by 1 pm. The event is a significant milestone in the lead-up to the consecration of the main idol in the temple.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, a Panchgavyaprashan ceremony was conducted at the temple, involving the use of Panchgavya—milk, urine, dung, ghee, and curd—as part of the worship of Lord Vishnu, adding to the spiritual fervor surrounding the historic Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
