SC Places TikTok Ban Petition on ‘No Time to See’ List

The Supreme Court of Nepal has opted to place the petition challenging the ban on TikTok in the country on the ‘no time to see’ list. The decision was made by a joint bench consisting of Justices Sushmalata Mathema and Binod Sharma on Tuesday.

A total of 14 writ petitions had been filed at the Supreme Court, contesting the ban imposed on the popular video-sharing app, TikTok. The joint bench’s move to categorize the case under the ‘no time to see’ list comes after the court had previously ordered the government to present its case and had scheduled a full hearing for today.

This decision raises questions about the urgency and priority assigned to the TikTok ban case, as the ‘no time to see’ list typically implies a delay in the consideration of a particular matter. The move has sparked speculation among legal experts and the public about the potential implications for the future of TikTok in Nepal and the broader issues surrounding freedom of expression on digital platforms.
