SEE Exam Cheating Scandal: Invigilators Expelled for WhatsApp Group Cheating

A case of organized cheating using mobile phones has been uncovered at a Secondary Education Examination (SEE) center in Sunsari district. An invigilator was caught red-handed assisting students in cheating through a WhatsApp group during the mathematics exam at Saraswati Secondary School Examination Centre in Inaruwa-9.

Chief District Officer (CDO) Dharmendra Kumar Mishra confirmed the arrest of two invigilators, identified as Shrawan Kumar Chaudhary and Ramananda Mehta, for their involvement in the misconduct. The invigilators attempted to switch off their mobile phones upon noticing the monitoring team led by CDO Mishra. However, an inspection of their devices revealed that they had been using a WhatsApp group to share information with students, including their names, symbol numbers, and the details of the boarding schools they represented.

In a separate incident at Bhagwati Secondary School Examination Centre in Inaruwa-1, three more invigilators — Mukendra Yadav, Ramananda Yadav, and Dinesh Prasad Yadav of Inaruwa-5 — were detained for violating examination protocols. Superintendent of Police (SP) Suman Timsina stated that the arrested individuals are being investigated for breaching the examination code of conduct.

Following the revelations, the Sunsari administration has instructed authorities to enforce stricter monitoring at examination centers. This incident follows a similar case in Duhabi, Sunsari, where two invigilators were expelled for allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 each from students to facilitate cheating.

The investigation into these incidents is ongoing, and stricter measures are expected to ensure fair examination practices.
