
Shankarpur Lake Irrigation Project Launched in Kapilvastu


Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has inaugurated the Shankarpur Lake Integrated Irrigation and Water Resources Conservation Project in Bijayanagar Rural Municipality-2 of Kapilvastu.
The project is set to provide irrigation facilities to 700 hectares of agricultural land in the rural municipality’s wards 3 and 4, benefiting around 1,715 households, according to Project Chief Avinashi Sigdel.
The contract for the project was signed on December 17, 2024 between the Water Resources Management Project Office and Babul Lumbini Sanskriti JV Siddharthanagar, Rupandehi.
Speaking at the event, Minister Khadka emphasized the importance of completing the project on time and urged locals to remain vigilant throughout its implementation.
The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 190 million, is expected to be completed within two years.
