Speaker Ghimire Heads to Ireland

Speaker Devraj Ghimire has embarked on a week-long visit to Ireland upon the invitation of Seán Ó Fearghaíl, the Speaker of the Irish parliament’s lower chamber. The delegation, led by Speaker Ghimire, set off for Ireland’s capital, Dublin, on Sunday evening.

Accompanying Speaker Ghimire are two key members of his team: Padma Prasad Pandey, the Secretary of the House of Representatives, and Tej Prakash Bhattarai, the Chief Personal Secretary of the Speaker.

The departure of the delegation was marked by a farewell ceremony at Tribhuvan International Airport, where Bharatraj Gautam, the General Secretary of Federal Parliament Secretariat, along with other high-ranking officials, bid them goodbye.

During his stay in Ireland, Speaker Ghimire is slated to hold crucial meetings with Seán Ó Fearghaíl, the Speaker of the Lower House, and Jerry Buttimer, the Chairman of the Upper House. These meetings are expected to strengthen bilateral ties and promote parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

In addition to his official engagements, Speaker Ghimire will also engage with Irish government officials and meet with the Nepalese community residing in Ireland. This visit holds the promise of fostering closer relations between Nepal and Ireland while showcasing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy on the global stage.
