Sudurpaschim Royals Dominate Janakpur Bolts in NPL T20 Cricket
Sudurpaschim Royals secured a commanding 72-run victory over Janakpur Bolts in the Nepal Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, handing Janakpur their first defeat of the competition.
The match, held at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, saw Sudurpaschim’s spinners deliver a stellar performance, restricting Janakpur to just 51 runs in 12.1 overs while chasing a target of 124 runs. Despite the loss, both teams remain tied at eight points from five matches.
Janakpur’s batting lineup faltered, with Joshua Tromp being the only player to reach double digits, scoring 13 runs. Sudurpaschim bowlers Harmit Singh, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Ishan Pandey each claimed two wickets, while Saif Zaib, Scott Kuggeleijn, and Naren Saud took one apiece to bundle out Janakpur.
Earlier, Sudurpaschim batted first after winning the toss, posting 123 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Opener Binod Bhandari top-scored with 33 runs off 37 balls, supported by Saif Zaib (21 runs), Ishan Pandey (17 runs), and Brandon McMullen (11 runs).
For Janakpur, Kishor Mahato impressed with four wickets, while Sher Malla and Araniko Yadav claimed two each, and Harsh Thakur took one wicket.
This emphatic win bolsters Sudurpaschim’s position in the league as both teams eye the playoff stage.
