Two Die While Filming TikTok on Riverbank in Tehrathum

A tragic incident claimed the lives of two individuals who drowned while filming a TikTok video near the Khorangwa Rivulet in Tehrathum.

The victims were identified as Rabina Rajbanshi, 23, a nurse at Gaukhuri Secondary School in Menchayem Rural Municipality-5, and Sushmita Bhattarai, 13, a seventh-grader from the same school.

According to Kamal Sapkota, the assistant principal of the school, the duo had gone to the riverbank on Saturday during their holiday. While attempting to film a TikTok video, they slipped and fell into the river, disappearing into the currents.

The bodies were recovered from the river this afternoon, confirmed Chinimaya Tamang, Chief of the District Police Office. The remains will be handed over to the bereaved families on Sunday, police reported.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential dangers associated with recreational activities near water bodies.
