UML Assumes Opposition Role
07th Jul 2024
The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) has officially taken on the role of the opposition party in parliament following its decision to break its alliance and withdraw support from Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government. This significant political shift comes as a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is currently in progress at the federal parliament building in New Baneshwor.
By aligning with the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML has strategized to oust the Dahal-led government and pave the way for a new coalition. The transition was marked today as the UML assumed its place on the opposition bench, marking a new phase in Nepalese politics.
