
UML’s Vice-chair Nembang files candidacy for President

CPN-UML’s vice-chair Subas Chandra Nembang has filed his candidacy for the presidential election.
Nembang registered his candidacy at the Office of the Election Officer at New Baneshwar on Saturday. UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and other leaders had reached the Federal Parliament Building to register his candidacy.
Nembang’s candidacy was proposed by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung, secretaries Gokarna Raj Bista, Raghubir Mahaseth, and Chhabilal Bishwakarma, while the proposal was seconded by Yogesh Bhattarai, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Juli Kumari Mahaseth, Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa, and Aman Kumar Maskey.
A secretariat meeting of the UML held at party headquarters, Chyasal today, decided to pick its Vice-Chairperson, Subas Nembang, as the presidential candidate.
Nembang, who has won consecutive elections from Ilam since 2056 BS, has been in the role of Speaker for four times. He was the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly when the Constitution was promulgated in 2072 BS.
Nembang, who has been in the National Assembly for two terms after 2048 BS and in the House of Representatives continuously since 2056 BS, is the leader with the widest parliamentary experience in the UML.
Nembang was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Ilam-2 in the November 20 election.
