Annoyed Deuba Skips Oath Ceremony for New Coalition Ministers

Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s absence at the swearing-in ceremony of three newly appointed ministers on Monday at the Presidential Office, Sheetal Niwas, has raised eyebrows and fueled speculations about growing discontent within the political sphere.

Deuba’s decision to skip the ceremony comes amidst escalating tensions within the political landscape, particularly following Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s recent departure from the Congress party to forge a new alliance with the Unified Marxist-Leninist (UML) party.

Expected to grace the occasion as a former prime minister, Deuba’s conspicuous absence sent ripples through the political arena, signaling his dissatisfaction with the recent shifts in alliances and power dynamics.

While Deuba opted not to participate in the ceremony, Ministers without portfolios Hit Bahadur Tamang, Padam Giri, and Dol Prasad Aryal took their oaths of office, marking the official commencement of their duties.
