Ashok Raj Sigdel Appointed as Chief of Nepali Army
28th Aug 2024
President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Ashok Raj Sigdel as the new Chief of the Nepali Army, effective from September 9. The appointment was made in accordance with the constitution, which grants the president the authority to make such appointments.
The announcement came through a press release from the President’s Office, following the impending end of the tenure of the current Chief of Army Staff, Prabhuram Sharma, on September 9. As Sharma had taken leave a month before the end of his term, Sigdel was already serving as the Chief of Staff on a permanent basis.
Sigdel’s appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Nepali Army as he assumes his role as the Chief of Army Staff.
