Benighat-Arughat Larke Road Advances with 42-Km Track Opened

A 42-kilometer track has been opened along the Benighat-Arughat Larke road, a key infrastructure project aimed at connecting Gorkha district with Tibet, China.
According to Purna Chandra Dhakal of the Nepal Army’s road construction task force, vehicles are now operating on a 36-kilometer stretch, with work continuing on the remaining seven kilometers due to debris clearance. The road has been extended up to Pewa in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3, while vehicles have reached Pangsing.
Out of the 154-kilometer project, the Nepal Army has been responsible for constructing a 92-kilometer section from Hawadanda, while the Gorkha Road Planning Office has worked on the remaining 62 kilometers. The Department of Roads entrusted the Nepal Army with the most challenging sections, including areas with steep terrain and rocky landscapes.
To ensure year-round accessibility, the Nepal Army has also built a Bailey bridge at Machhikhola. The Nepalese government has allocated Rs 70 million for an additional two kilometers of track this fiscal year, with work nearing completion.
