Bharatpur Ranked Best Municipality for Third Consecutive Year

Bharatpur Metropolitan City has once again secured the top position in the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission’s (NNRFC) performance evaluation for the fiscal year 2081/82. This marks the third consecutive year that Bharatpur has ranked first among Nepal’s metropolitan cities.

The evaluation is based on 17 key indicators, including budget expenditure, audit compliance, management of the local consolidated fund, periodic planning, and revenue collection. Bharatpur scored 76.2 percent, followed by Biratnagar with 73.5 percent and Lalitpur with 66.7 percent. Kathmandu ranked fourth with 54.3 percent, while Pokhara (51.5 percent) and Birgunj (43.1 percent) secured the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

In Chitwan district, Bharatpur also topped the rankings among the seven local governments. Ichchakamana Rural Municipality followed in second place with a 72 percent score.

The continued recognition highlights Bharatpur’s efficiency in governance, financial management, and municipal services, reinforcing its position as a model city in Nepal.
