Chinese national arrested on the charge of sexually abusing rural minors by calling them to Kathmandu
The Nepal Police have arrested a Chinese national on the charge of holding teenage girls hostage and sexually abusing them.
Yang Li Ming, 49, a Chinese national from Fujian province currently living in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22 was arrested from Bungmati in Lalitpur on Saturday.
According to SP Sanjay Singh Thapa, spokesperson for the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, Chinese national used to get to know minors of young age through Facebook and invite them to Kathmandu by showing various temptations during the conversation. After calling the girls to Kathmandu, he used to sexually exploit and abuse them in a rented house located in Sohrakhute near Bungmati in the metropolis.
The CIB arrested him after receiving information that he had sexually abused 2 of the 6 minors aged 14 to 17 years. During the further investigation of the incident, after it was found that 4 other minors were also kept in a hotel in Thamel, the police have rescued those girls. Those girls have been kept under the protection of social organizations.
The police said that the arrested Chinese nationals have been trying to tempt minors for a long time.
It has been revealed that a 13-year-old girl from Jhapa’s Mechinagar Municipality-11 among those who fell under his temptation came to Kathmandu on Thursday afternoon. According to a teacher of the school where the girl was studying, before coming to Kathmandu, she told her friends that she was going there because the Chinese uncle called her. According to the teacher, the girl told other friends that she would get a lot of money if she went to Kathmandu. The sixth grade student had also offered her 10 to 12 friends to go with her.
The Chinese citizen has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
