Deuba Calls Party Meeting Amidst Internal Conflict

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has convened a crucial meeting of the Central Work Performance Committee within the party, scheduled for 3 pm today. The meeting is set to occur at Deuba’s residence in Dhumbarahi, as confirmed by NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.

Tensions have arisen within the NC as a result of a dispute concerning the party’s stance on the political coalition and its support for CPN-Maoist Center leader Indra Angbo as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province. Some NC lawmakers have defied the party’s decision in this matter.

In a surprising move, NC lawmaker Kedar Karki, with the backing of Dr. Shekhar Koirala, has submitted his candidacy for the position of Koshi Chief Minister. Karki’s candidacy is supported by 39 CPN-UML lawmakers and eight NC lawmakers within the province, highlighting the growing divisions within the party.
