Deuba, Whose Rare Words Carry Weight, Asserts: ‘Parliamentary Committee Must be Formed on the Home Minister’

Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of Nepali Congress, has urged the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee to probe into allegations against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. Speaking at the party’s parliamentary meeting held at the Lhotse Hall of the Parliament House in New Baneshwar, Deuba stressed the urgency of the matter, citing substantial evidence against Lamichhane.

“Many people have been deceived, and justice must be served,” Deuba emphasized. “It is imperative to establish a parliamentary investigation committee to thoroughly scrutinize the allegations against Rabi Lamichhane.”

Nepali Congress has escalated concerns within the Parliament regarding Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in a cooperative fraud case. The party has issued a stern warning, indicating that parliamentary proceedings could face disruptions if the demand for the formation of a Parliamentary Investigation Committee is not met.

Deuba’s statement underscores his reputation as a measured and serious-minded leader in the political arena. His rare and weighty words add gravity to the situation, signaling the seriousness of the allegations against the Home Minister.

Today’s session of the House of Representatives (HoR) witnessed interruptions as Nepali Congress obstructed proceedings, leading to a temporary halt lasting 15 minutes. Consequently, the session has been postponed and extended until Wednesday, indicating the escalating tension surrounding the issue at hand.
