President Ram Chandra Paudel emphasized the role of festivals in fostering mutual harmony and unity among diverse communities. In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the major Kirat festival, Ubhauli, President Paudel highlighted the significance of festivals in building a civilized and cultured society.
“Festivals play a vital role in promoting social unity. I believe the Ubhauli festival will further strengthen cultural solidarity among all Nepalis,” said President Paudel. He expressed his hope that Ubhauli would inspire all Nepalis to contribute towards building an equitable and civilized society.
The Ubhauli festival is celebrated by the Kirat community living in the eastern part of Nepal and in the Kathmandu Valley. During this festival, the Kirat people worship nature and their ancestors, aspiring for good crops in the coming season. They believe that such worship will protect them from natural disasters and ensure a bountiful harvest.
The celebrations include exchanging greetings, performing cultural dances and pageants, and enjoying various traditional cuisines. President Paudel extended his best wishes for the festival, expressing his hope that it would bring joy and inspiration to all.
