Former lawmaker Ang Tawa Sherpa surrenders to police

Former Nepali Congress lawmaker, Ang Tawa Sherpa, who had been on the run after being issued an arrest warrant in connection to the fake Bhutanese refugee case, has surrendered himself to the police. According to an officer of the District Police Complex in Teku, Kathmandu, Sherpa surrendered to the authorities at the complex.

The arrest warrant against Sherpa was issued by the Kathmandu District Court on 14th May, after he was accused of defrauding numerous people by promising them migration to the United States as fake refugees.

Sherpa has been accused of duping numerous people by promising them migration to the United States as fake refugees.

The police have reported that Sherpa met with Sanu Bhandari, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the scam, while in custody.
