Free Cervical Cancer Screening Conducted at Barpak Health Camp

A free cervical cancer screening camp was held at Barpak in Sulikot Rural Municipality on Monday, benefiting 120 women from the local community.

The camp, organized by the rural municipality with support from the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation and the Nepal Cancer Relief Society, tested women between 30 and 49 years old using the VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) method. Among the participants, eight women tested positive and received immediate treatment, with follow-up screenings scheduled for six months later.

Chief of the Health Section Modraj Bhatta said the camp was organized in response to the rising cases of cervical cancer and uterus prolapse among rural women. Trained nurses under the supervision of specialist doctors conducted the tests, aiming to promote early detection and treatment in the community.
