Government Hints at No Parliamentary Committee for Home Minister Probe

The government has indicated its reluctance to establish a parliamentary committee to investigate allegations of fraud against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. Despite mounting pressure from the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, the government asserts that it does not perceive the necessity for such an inquiry.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Rekha Sharma stated that there hasn’t been adequate evidence found against the home minister to substantiate the allegations related to the cooperative scam. She emphasized that both Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Home Minister Lamichhane have expressed their perspectives on the Nepali Congress’ demand.

In response to the Congress’ persistent demand for the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe Lamichhane’s conduct, the party has obstructed Parliament proceedings for the past month. They have reiterated their stance, asserting that they will continue to disrupt parliamentary business until the committee is established.
