Government Suspends Work Permits for Russia and Ukraine

The government has announced the suspension of issuing work permits for Russia and Ukraine, citing concerns over the reported deaths of Nepali citizens who have joined the Russian army. The decision was communicated through an official notice from the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE).

The DoFE clarified that the decision to halt the approval of work permits for these countries was prompted by increasing instances of illegal recruitment of Nepali youths into the Russian army. Shockingly, the reports indicate that ten Nepali citizens who were serving in the Russian army have lost their lives.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has identified the deceased individuals as follows:

-Hari Prasad Aryal from Syangja
-Bhar Bahadur Shah from Kailali
-Rajkumar Giri from Dhading
-Sandeep Thapalia from Gorkha
-Rupak Karki from Kapilbastu
-Dewan Rai from Kaski, Pokhara
-Pitam Karki from Putalibazar-5 Syangja
-Rajkumar Roka from Melung-6 Dolakha
-Gangaraj Moktan from Ilam-5
-Kundan Singh Nagal from Ilam

Expressing deep concern over the increasing cases of Nepali youths being illegally recruited into the Russian army, the government has taken this precautionary measure to suspend work permits until further notice. The decision aims to safeguard the lives and well-being of Nepali citizens and prevent further casualties in foreign military service. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working to address the issue diplomatically and ensure the safety of Nepali citizens abroad.
