Guess Who’s in Modi’s Cabinet? Find Out Here!
Amid much anticipation and speculation, the contours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new cabinet are starting to take shape. With the swearing-in ceremony slated for 7:15 pm today, all eyes are on who will secure coveted positions in the government. Negotiations have been ongoing, particularly with the BJP’s NDA allies, to finalize the lineup for key ministerial posts.
In the aftermath of the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, where the BJP secured 240 seats, discussions have intensified over the distribution of portfolios among coalition partners. The BJP’s dominance, coupled with alliances, has set the stage for a robust government formation process.
Modi, set to take the oath for the third consecutive term, is expected to preside over a council of ministers ranging from 78 to 81 members. However, initial indications suggest that around 30 individuals will be sworn in during today’s ceremony, as reported by NDTV.
The composition of the cabinet reflects a mix of seasoned veterans and fresh faces, indicative of the BJP’s strategy to balance experience with new talent. High-profile ministries such as railways, home, finance, and defense are expected to retain familiar faces. Among those confirmed are stalwarts like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Nitin Gadkari, with Singh likely to continue as Defense Minister and Gadkari retaining his portfolio for Road Transport & Highways. Additionally, Dr. S Jaishankar is poised to return as the External Affairs Minister.
Several MPs-elect have received calls, signaling their inclusion in the cabinet. Notable names include Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jitin Prasada, Sarbananda Sonowal, Pralhad Joshi, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, among others.
In tandem with the BJP, allies such as the JDU, TDP, Shiv Sena, NCP, Hindustani Awam Morcha, JD(S), LJP, RLD, and others are also expected to have representation in the cabinet. Leaders like Lalan Singh and Ram Nath Thakur from JDU, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu from TDP, and Pratap Rao Jadhav from Shiv Sena are likely to secure ministerial berths.
Furthermore, regional players like HD Kumaraswamy of JD(S), Chirag Paswan of LJP, and Jayant Chaudhary of RLD are also poised to play significant roles in the new government.
As the clock ticks closer to the swearing-in ceremony, all eyes are on the final composition of Modi’s cabinet, which is expected to reflect a delicate balance of political alliances and administrative acumen.
